ich liebäugle mit einer Picostation. Ist es möglich, dass die „günstige“ Variante für Pico2 für ca. 50 Euro nicht mit Gluon / FF kompatibel ist, und man die Pico M2HP verwenden muss ?
Ja, es muss auf jeden Fall eine M Version sein, wenn diese mit Gluon benutzt werden soll.
Ich kann das Gerät nur empfehlen, die Leistung ist überragend was die Abdeckung angeht.

die „nonM“ (im Gegensatz zu den PicoM2, LocoM2, NSM2) sind die alten Versionen ohne Mimo,
d.h. da ist bei 54MBit/s „schluss“, also nur 802.11bg, kein 11bgn.
Kann man nehmen afaik, ist aber „Airtime-Vergeudung“ und hat auch weniger Reichweite.
Haben wir nur kein Image für, was willste denn da drauf flashen?

o.k. „geht also nicht mit gluon“ merke ich mir. Nur falls mir so ein Ding mal geschenkt in die Hände fallen sollte.
auch wenn es hier minimal offtopic ist:
was die reichweite angeht, kann ich jedem der einen etwas größeren bereich abdecken will zu einer AirFi raten.
Ich bediene hier 3 APs die in gut 45m Entfernung stehen mit diesem Hinter einer Stahlbetonwand.
Wenn man allerdings keinen Platz hat um diese anzubringen ist doch der Bullet M die bessere Wahl - vorausgesetzt man hat ne brauchbare Antenne - diese hatte ich nämlich nicht, so dass ich zuvor genannten kaufte…
Sorry, dass ich dieses alte Thema hier wieder ausgrabe, aber ich bin jetzt etwas verwirrt.
Nehme ich für eine Picostation M2HP die ubiquiti-bullet-m.bin oder die ubiquiti-picostation-m.bin firmware?

Special Firmware Note: AirOS XM.v5.5.X images used U-Boot 1.1.4.2-s594 (Dec 5 2012 - 15:23:07). The OpenWRT image can be successfully flashed onto these versions of firmware. However, in July 2015 Ubiquiti released a new version of firmware XM.v5.6.X. With this firmware a new U-Boot version was released, U-Boot 1.1.4.2-s956 (Jun 10 2015 - 10:54:50). The newer U-Boot version changes the memory size and starting address for rootfs, cfg, and EEPROM. LOADING AN OPENWRT IMAGE ON A U-Boot 1.1.4.2-s956 WILL CAUSE THE DEVICE TO BE BRICKED!!!
Kann ich irgendwie rausfinden welche AirOS Version bzw. welche U-Boot version bei meinem M2HP zum Einsatz kommt?
Ist da Abhilfe am Horizont?

If the device has XM.v5.6.X, an older version of XM firmware can be loaded from the AirOS webgui (for example XM.v5.5.10) and U-Boot will be overwritten with the older version. OpenWRT can then be loaded onto the device successfully.
Wenn ich das richtig verstehe, dann kann man ein Downgrade der Firmware durchführen und dann gibt es keine Probleme?
Ich antworte mir einfach mal selbst: ich hatte auf der Picostation M2HP coolerweise noch die FW 5.5.8, konnte also problemlos das Bulletin M Image draufflashen.
Läuft wie ne eins.
