WR841ND CPU völlig überlastet, alfred page allocation failure

Hallo zusammen,

in der Domäne Ruhrgebiet sehe ich auf einem WR841ND v8 „mesh only“ ständige Zusammenbrüche. Alle paar Minuten erfolgen reboots, meistens hängen aber nur die Verbindungen. Die Statusseite meldet „maximale“ CPU Belastung:

und ein logread -f zeigt andauernde alfred page allocation failures (alle 5 bis 10 Sekunden!):

Frage: Wie verhält sich bei anderen ein WR841ND v8 im Ruhrgebiet? Läuft es stabil?

Ich kenne den Effekt von meiner PicoStation. Die hat zu Stoßzeiten kaum fünf Minuten durchgehalten und dann wieder gebootet. Vormittags ging es.

Seit gestern läuft sie in der neuen Dortmunder Domäne, wo noch so gut wie kein Traffic ist. Und seitdem kein Reboot mehr.

Mein persönliches Fazit: Bei der derzeitigen Auslastung von FFRG scheinen viele der kleinen Router mit 32MB RAM schnell an ihre Grenzen zu kommen.

Um das Problem etwas zu mildern habe ich mit der MTU rumgespielt und dabei festegstellt, dass 1392 die Load drastisch reduziert.
Dann gibt es aber folgende Events im Log:

Dennoch funktioniert das Netz soweit... Packet loss is schon da, aber immerhin kommt überhaupt was durch, was nicht der Fall ist, wenn die Load auf dem kleinen Plasterouter >5 wird. ;-)

Wieder xfach simultan laufende dhcp-scripts?

Meine 841 machen seit längerer Zeit auch keinen Spaß mehr, egal ob v8 oder v9. Die Stunde Uptime schaffen sie kaum. Bei einer 1043v1 war das ebenso, nur dass die gerne auch nicht mehr von alleine hochkam, weswegen ich sie abgebaut habe.

Weil meine 4900 da durchlief war ich bisher nicht ganz so hinterher.

Wenn TOP im falschen Moment refresht hat man natürlich nix von - ich versuche mal mit logread mein Glück.

@SenorKaffee: Auf welche MTU hast du den Router konfiguriert? Meine Ausgaben waren gerade mit MTU 1392. Habe jetzt zurückgestellt auf den default aus dem Image (MTU 1426) und die Load steigt direkt noch weiter an:

…und das ohne „logread -f“ gleichzeitig… wenn der noch mitläuft, dann steigt die Load auf 7.5.

Meinst du fastd.mesh_vpn.mtu? Der fastd muss ja eigentlich nicht mitlaufen, wenn der Router keinen Uplink hat.

@anon75826926 hatte das Problem iirc bereits identifiziert. Das liegt, wenn ich micht nicht irre, daran wie batman-adv mit der Speicherallokation für irgendeine Tabelle umgeht. Alfred, der dann diese Daten abfragt ist der Leidtragende.

Die meisten sind 841er, die auch als uplink laufen. Dies kann man aber nicht als alleinigen Zusammenhang sehen, da hier ein Testrouter steht, der nur durch 2 mesh Verbindungen grandiose Überlast erzeugt:

Einen Router habe ich auf 1392 umgestellt und nach dem Reboot brach mir gerade die ganze Wolke weg. Kann Zufall sein, aber ich glaube ich zieh mir mal schnell ne Jacke an und sammle den ein… :wink:
