Devolo WiFi pro 1200e

Ahoi,

unter https://www.office-partner.de/devolo-wifi-pro-1200e-x10000510? gibt es heute den devolo WiFi pro 1200e bei Office-Partner für ca. 20€ im Angebot.

Zu dem Gerät findet sich leider im WWW quasi nichts. Der Devolosupport ist äußerst kompetent und ich frage mich inwieweit man das gute Stück eventuell auf Gluon umsetzen könnte.

Es gibt berichte im Netz das OpenWRT als Unterbau benutzt wird (versehen mit Responsive Oberfläche). Zum verwendeten Chipsatz habe ich leider nichts gefunden.

Hat eventuell jemand das Teil im Einsatz und könnte da kurz was zu sagen? Als 20€-Dualband-POE-Gerät wäre es vermutlich gar nicht so verkehrt…

absolut professionelles Gerät auf OpenWRT-Basis mit SSH-Zugang. Die Oberfläche ist schick und sehr gut verständlich.

Nun müsste man noch wissen was für Hardware verbaut ist.

Ja. Die habe ich schon durch. Auch den Artikel der ct wo von SSH und Openwrt gesprochen wird. Die Hotline meinte „das hat nichts mit Openwrt zu tun“.

Wäre halt günstig und mit PoE.

Für den Preis ist das Gerät ziemlich interessant.

Aus dem Firmware-Paket auf der Devolo Seite lassen sich folgende Infos über die Hardware erahnen:

Es wird wohl ein 16MB großer Flash Chip verwendet.

Außerdem ist ath9k und ath10k sowie Firmware für den QCA9880 im Image enthalten.

In den Config-Scripten sind zwei Ethernet Ports referenziert, was entweder für einen AR9344 oder QCA9558 als SoC spricht.

Zur größe des RAM ist leider kein Hinweis zu finden, aber trotzdem dürfte der Preis von 20 Euro extrem gut sein. Inwiefern die Firmware ohne Serial zu flashen ist wird sich noch zeigen.

Irgendwo las ich bei einem anderen Gerät mit selber Firmware 128MB. Könnte passen.

Da von dem Gerät scheinbar eh nur eins bestellt werden kann tu ich das einfach mal…

Vermutlich kann man auch im Nachgang nochmal anfragen - die werden die Teile loswerden wollen.

Falls sich eine Person die sich mit Gluon beschäftigt kurzfristig meldet lasse ich das Gerät direkt zu Menschen die damit was anfangen können schicken :wink:

Schade, leider verpasst, sonst hätte ich mir auch ein Gerät bestellt und mich an einer Gluon-Unterstützung versucht.

Was bedeutet der Bug im Praktischen Einsatz? Würdest du eine Kaufempfehlung zu dem Preis aussprechen oder nicht?

Ich könnte mir vorstellen dass auch die restlichen Router noch abverkauft werden :wink: .

Sorry für die späte Antwort.

Zur Reichweite kann ich nicht viel sagen. Alle Geräte waren in Sachen 5GHz ganz okay, nix besonderes (weder positiv noch negativ).

Alle Geräte die ich in der Hand hielt laufen annehmbar mit OpenWRT und Gluon. Der Bug mit dem zweiten LAN Port bei den Geräten mit externen Antennen ist auch fixbar, das muss nur gemacht werden.

Allerdings gilt es zu beachten, dass das ar71xx Target, auf welchem Gluon 2018.2 noch basiert deprecated ist und somit die Geräte keine Chance haben dort hinein zu finden. Ein Bauen ist allerdings über den next branch möglich. Grundsätzlich funktionieren tut das Gerät dort. Allerdings hakt es an diversen Ecken und Enden (Status LED funktioniert nicht, sysupgrade ohne -F flag ebenfalls).

Kurz: Für einen selbst ist das ganze aktuell ganz okay (wenn man sich drum kümmert), allerdings nichts was kurzfristig nach Gluon upstream kommen wird.

dadurch fehlt im config mode das eth1
das eth1 ist da irgendwie doof …

poe passthrough machen die e’s übrigends auch. muss nur per hand geconfigt werden.

Wieso ist diese Nacharbeit nötig? Das Gerät verfügt über kein WAN Interface, da ist es völlig normal dass beide Ports in der selben Bridge liegen.

Welcher GPIO Pin muss denn gesetzt werden um 802.3af auf dem zweiten LAN Pin zu aktivieren? Ich sehe das Feature gerade erst selbst beim OEM, devolo verliert dazu keinen Wort in ihrer Anleitung.

Und hier nochmal der Hinweis: Die ganzen Patches für Gluon waren nur für eigene Testzwecke. Dort funktionieren diverse Dinge nicht, insbesondere der Autoupdater!

Schick. Was machen die denn so an Durchsatz? Habt ihr das mal getestet mit L2TP auf dem Gerät? Ansonsten laufen sie stabil?
